Linus Karp comes from Sweden, but now spends a lot of time in the UK. He is an actor, comedian, playwright and dramatist. He and his partner Joseph Martin co-created Awkward Productions in 2017.
Karp initially rose to fame as a result of Awkward Productions’ first hit show, an adaptation of Rob Hays’ Awkward Conversations With Animals I Have F*cked. Karp played ‘lovelorn loser’ Bobby in its initial run at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre in London. Following excellent reviews the show went on to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2018 and then a world tour.
Following this success, Karp set out to write his own solo show. He wrote How to Live a Jellicle Life: Life Lessons Learned from the Hit 2019 Movie Cats, which show which was performed at the 2022 and 2023 Fringe festivals, and was also performed in London’s theatreland.
Linus’s next role was as Princess Diana in his most recent creation, Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story. The show follows Princess Diana, who narrates the events of her life while in Heaven. The show has had a UK run, a London residency in spring 2024, and a sold-out run at the 2023 and 2024 Edinburgh Fringe. Due to its rapturous reception with the audiences, the decision was made to take the show on the road, and if you are in Bangkok on 15 February, you really don’t want to miss the opportunity to see it.
Audience participation is a fun part of the show, and some members of the audience are given cards, and are made aware that the show relies on audience members playing certain parts in the show. No pressure though if you don’t want to participate. There are always people who are eager to be given a card.
The show takes us on Diana’s very personal, untold and untrue theatrical story navigating married life with Prince Charles and the third wheel in their marriage, the positively demonic Camilla (AKA Cam-Cam for this performance), along with having the Queen as a mother-in-law.
From the get-go, when Diana is born onstage it only gets more bizarre. Get ready for a wild ride.
