But what if arranged marriage is still applied even in today’s generation?

An arranged marriage refers to the intertwining of two persons. It is considered as a forced marriage for the couple getting married are not given a chance to choose whom they want to get married. Arranged marriage is prepared and worked by the parents of the couple, especially the girl. Way back, an arranged marriage is a trend where women, with men that have enough resources to provide a good life. The arranged marriage had become a trend and a vital part of one’s tradition and culture. In some tribes, women who have not reached the age of  15 are already married to a man and promised to build a young family. 

A lot of countries across the world adapt to an arranged marriage as a part of their tradition and culture. Girls are being paired with men who can be in the same age as theirs or even older. One of those countries is India. Given this, Indian parents are expected to fix the marriage of their children, even at a young age. 

Reasons for Arranged Marriage in India

Arranged marriage is not a game to play, and here are some of the reasons why is it still practiced:

•    Most Indian families are efficient about arranged marriage. However, it is seen as a representation of business merging. Most children are paired with people who are known for a good review and family business, which can be a great help to the business of the spouse. The astrology- the study of stars and relating to the fate of an individual is also one of the reasons. Indians believe in the matchmaking of an astrologer that can’t be found.

•    In the northern regions of India, there is a structural opposition established between the groups- the bride takers and the bride givers. This kind of opposition is still present and intertwines with hearts to live with each other for a lifetime. 

•    There are also cases where even with the same blood running in their veins, an arranged marriage can still happen. Even with cousins, it is possible, and it is due to the tradition that most Indians have.
