Uncertainty was definitely the theme of 2020, but one thing is for sure… You can earn an income remotely.

If you are staying at home over the next few months there are hundreds of different ways to generate an income online so that you can come out the other side of the pandemic in a more secure financial position that you were in before!

While many bricks and mortar businesses are struggling like never before, the fact is that many online industries have experienced a significant period of growth due to the knock on effects of the global pandemic.

With more people shopping, learning and socializing online than ever before, there has never been a better time to start your own side hustle from home.

Here are 5 ways to start earning an income online today!

Sell Products On Amazon

Amazon is the fastest growing e-commerce marketplace on the planet and it’s the perfect place to sell your product in 2021.

Amazon gives you direct access to a customer base of millions of people with websites in over 15 countries. Amazon can even take care of shipping and customer service for you which means a hands off, automated business (in theory anyway!).

The scale of the Amazon network has huge advantages, but it’s not all good news.

As a seller, you are competing with thousands of others who are selling the same item as you, which means choosing the right product in the right niche is essential if you want to see real growth.

There are plenty of courses and online tutorials where you can learn the basics about how to get started on Amazon, but as always, make sure to do your due diligence before investing in anything.

Teach English Online

Teaching English Online is a popular one with many digital nomads living in SE Asia. The majority of this work is teaching school students in Asia and there are hundreds of different online teaching agencies who are always recruiting new teachers.

Being a native speaker is a requirement for the majority of companies, however there are some companies that do employ teachers who have English as their second language.

Most companies (but not all) require teachers to have a TEFL Certificate which can be obtained for about $200 online. This involves a crash course in teaching English and will prepare you if you have never taught online before.

Pay wise, for those with a university degree, expect $10-$20 per hour. Many companies don’t require a degree, however the hourly rate is usually under $10, which still isn’t to be scoffed at during times of crisis!

Professional Services.

Have you got a professional skill that people will pay for? If you’re an accountant, graphic designer, video producer, artist, website coder,  lawyer or have any other professional skills that you can monetize, there are plenty of ways to work with clients remotely.

Websites like Fiver and Upwork are a great place to source clients who are looking for professionals in all sorts of different fields. Having a strong online presence that positions you as an expert in your field is essential if you want to get good quality paying clients on a regular basis.

As we move into 2021, more and more professionals are opting for going it alone by offering their services as a Freelancer online. At the end of the day, it means more profit and more freedom for you!

Create An Online Course

If you’ve got knowledge in a particular area (the more niche the better) then creating your own course is a great way to create a passive income. Plan and record your course one time, then sell it over and over again!

Sites like Udemy and Kajabi are great for hosting your courses and also help with the marketing element too. Whether you’re an expert piano player, a patchwork quilt designer, a photography expert or a high school Science teacher, there are plenty of people out there prepared to pay for your knowledge of a specific subject (presuming you know your stuff that is!).

Just as in the option of professional services, positioning yourself as an expert and authority within your niche area is key for acquiring clients and making sales of your online course.

People want to know they are going to get results, right?
